It has been used as a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for many years and is especially effective for the relief of acute or chronic pain and prevention or treatment of various diseases.
Acupuncture involves the painless insertion of ultra-thin single-use needles into specific points on the body called acupoints to “re-balance” the flow of the body’s energy. Your body energy, commonly known as ‘Qi’, should flow freely and unobstructed. If there are blockages in this flow an illness may arise and by re-establishing good energy flow the body can begin to heal itself and restore health.
Sterile, safe and super relaxing
Acupuncture needles are very fine and flexible, about the size of a human hair. They bear no resemblance to the needles used when receiving an injection. In most cases, insertion by our Registered Acupuncturist is performed with minimal discomfort. All needles are used only once and a new individual needle is opened from a sterile and sealed package for each point applied.
How acupuncture works
Acupuncture points are inserted in historically charted precise spots on the body. These spots when needled produce powerful healing functions such as reducing back pain, releasing the shoulders, inducing sleep and calming the mind. Other points are inserted in carefully palpated areas of pain which are known as “ashi” points. Needling certain points have been proven to achieve all kinds of amazing outcomes in the body such as reduce inflammation, repair damaged nerve tissue and balance hormones. Our treatments involve a great deal of training, knowledge and intuition. We believe that zeroing in on the exact location of an issue is what has made our treatments so powerful. We are experts at finding the exact spot, we get right to the point.
